Job Description
Construction Equipment Mechanic / Service Technician:
Pat Kelly Equipment Co. is looking for a full-time construction equipment service technician with a strong work ethic who will thrive in a family-owned business environment. This position is primarily responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of light to heavy construction machinery. We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated individual with heavy equipment knowledge specifically skilled in the fields of hydraulics, electronics, and engine repair. This position requires the ability to work well both independently and cohesively with others to troubleshoot, repair, and service various types of heavy machinery for both customer-owned and company owned equipment. Tasks will differ day-to-day as assigned by the service manager.

Skill Requirements:
Attention to Detail - Some parts need to be in the exact right place, or they will not work. Being able to pay attention to the minute details of heavy equipment repair will be necessary.
Mechanical Skills - Will need familiarity with parts and components of complex machinery and engines, as well as the tools to fix them.
Technical Skills - Will need to be familiar with electronics and be able to read schematics, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs.
Manual Dexterity - Good hands and great hand-eye coordination help heavy equipment mechanics be successful.
Troubleshooting Skills -This individual will need to be able to look at mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, identify problems, and think about possible solutions
Communication - Communicates effectively and professionally when reporting to the service manager.
Teamwork - Embodies a teamwork mentality to work cohesively with other team members and departments
Training & Development - Eagerness to learn from peers and through equipment manufacturer training programs
Safety - Dedication to working safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Data Reporting - Capable of accurately equipment service reports for record-keeping.
Analyzing - Knowledgeable when it comes to reading, understanding, and applying information from charts, graphs, and manuals.
Computer Skills - Possesses basic knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Office software.
Time Management - Driven to complete repairs in a timely manner while maintaining a high-quality level of work.
Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers) as well as power tools (e.g. impact driver).

Qualifications
Education/Training Requirements:
Language: English
High school diploma/GED
Vocational training/certification
1-3 years of heavy equipment service related experience required
Hands-on training will be provided on the job in addition to training from our equipment manufacturers. Certain industry service certifications will be provided when necessary.

Experience Requirements:
Proven experience as Mechanic / Service Technician
A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or willingness to obtain one via the Missouri state DMV.
Expected to perform incidental welding operations on equipment. Welding knowledge and experience in the field is preferred.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations and turnaround times, develop skill sets, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service.
Knows the hazards of the job and is trained in safety precautions of the trade.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
Applicants must be physically able and prepared to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to elements.
May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents.
Must be capable of lifting arms above shoulder level to install and remove components as well as bend or stoop repeatedly over time.
Must maintain a professional personal appearance.
Must be capable of manipulating tools in areas of limited spaces.
Physical strength is required to occasionally move and manipulate heavy objects short distances (lifting equipment available).

Purpose:

Manage service operations within the dealership to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize return on investment by optimizing service department processes. Responsibilities

Heavy Equipment Service Manager Duties:
Job Type: Full-time
-Communicate, enforce and monitor service department processes to ensure customer satisfaction
-Manage all repair and maintenance work for customer machines and Pat Kelly Equipment rental fleet equipment
-Supervise service department personnel
-Schedule and assign jobs and work areas to employees in the service department according to their skills and knowledge
-Manage staffing and retention of service personnel.
-Coordinate training and development opportunities for technicians
-Operate and maintains department including uniforms, tools, supplies and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
-Manage customer relations and service invoicing process
-Financial management of the service department
-Review work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing
-Generate service invoices for customer billing and process transactions
-Acquire new service business and estimate repair costs accurately and timely
-Manage warranty claim submission process with manufacturers in a timely manner to receive maximum credit
-Maintain a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
-Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
-Maintain knowledge of dealer equipment manufacturers and competitive products
-Perform daily department opening and closing procedures

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
-3+ years of experience working in a service department; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
-Experience with off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment

-Experience analyzing and interpreting internal reports
-High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
-Higher education such as a 2-4-year degree, vocational certification or military experience is preferred.
-Management or supervisory experience is preferred.

Parts & Purchasing Manager:

Pat Kelly Equipment is looking for a self-motivated, dynamic leader who will thrive in a small business environment. The Parts & Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing a profitable and successful parts department. In doing so this position is dedicated to providing our customer base with the highest quality dealer aftermarket support through the equipment manufacturers Pat Kelly Equipment represents. A parts manager should have a basic mechanical understanding and the ability to identify by sight, and by name, the parts of an industry related piece of equipment. This position will oversee all parts & supply purchasing, parts inventory cycle counts, parts employee training, and parts department management. Personalized hybrid (online and in-person) training on Pat Kelly Equipment's product lines and role as parts and purchasing manager will be provided.

Reports to: Owner/President

Responsibilities:

-Manage over-the-counter and phone sales of parts, tools, and supplies
-Provide high quality customer service and aftermarket support for all suppliers Pat Kelly Equipment represents
-Lead, manage, and train parts department personnel with a servant leadership style
-Oversee all parts & supply purchasing for stock orders, customer orders, as well as internal work orders. Other tasks will include ordering and stocking
-Research, locate, and coordinate parts orders through Pat Kelly Equipment's extensive dealer network for both customer orders and internal work orders for the service department
-Maintain parts management system
-Monitor and maintain department profitability
-Resolve customer issues and ensure customer satisfaction
-Maintain and establish quality relationships with suppliers and customer base
-Work with suppliers to ensure we are receiving a quality product for a competitive price
-Provide technicians with required parts in a timely manner
-Work cohesively as a team with all departments prosper dealership operations
-Complete, understand, and implement the required Parts -Manager training from each Pat Kelly Equipment OEM.
